Leaving the tie tied when you’re not wearing it can cause permanent wrinkles; always untie the knot, and when doing so, reverse the procedure — don’t just pull the small end out through the loop. Hang
your ties on a covered hanger, or a tie rack.

Dry Cleaning
Most wool or silk ties should never be cleaned commercially. The dyes can’t handle the chemistry. They run and bleed.

Water Spots
Let the spot dry, then rub the small end of the tie on it, eradicating it — or scrape it off with a fingernail.

Other Stains and Spots
Hold your tie over a boiling kettle and apply steam. Then use a dry spot remover (powdered or aerosol). Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
