You can tell a lot about a person by the condition of their shoes. Here are some tried-and-true shoe-care tips:

- Polish a new pair of shoes before you wear them. It protects them from the
elements, and makes them easier to shine in the future.
- Clean and buff your shoes regularly. They’ll last a lot longer if you do.
- Leave cedar shoetrees inside your shoes when you’re not wearing them.
They’ll maintain the shape, and draw out any potentially damaging moisture.
- Never wear the same shoes two days in a row. Shoes need a full day to rest,
dry out, and reshape after a hard day’s wear.
- Use a shoehorn. It’ll keep the backs of your shoes from breaking down.
- Use toe rubbers when it’s wet outside. They’ll protect the leather, extending
  the life of your shoe.
